when i woke up this morning,i have only one thing in my mind:
FORBIDDEN CITY: PORTRAIT OF AN EMPRESS!!
yes! i've watched it this afternoon!!
just say you envy me!
wahaha..
i woke up at 10.30am and watched shaman king. (i recorded it).
then, i used the computer for awhile.
showered and went off.

reached bedok interchange and the idiot bus was late.
i ate hello panda for lunch.
yes,lunch!!
ms chua lectured us and forbid us to use our handphones,mp3 and camera in the bus.
and we were to sit by our index number in the theatre and the bus.
we were like: WHAT??!!

but mr sim was super nice! he let us use everything and sat any how. he ever shared a box of sweets with us.
but he said that in the theatre, we will have to sit according to our index number.
so, we said ok.
then, we reached padang and we walked to esplanade.
we got our tickets and i was sitting at row JJ,seat 30.
it was the last row. when i sat down,i felt like puking and falling.
it was super high,ok??
it was until then that Jolyn found out she was afraid of height.

then, the show started...
*SPOILER!! SKIP THIS SECTION IF YOU ARE GOING TO WATCH FORBIDDEN CITY!*

Kate, an artist was opening a gallery. Inside, was a portrait of the Empress of China. Also known as The Dragon Lady to the people.
The keeper told Kate that the guests will be arriving soon. and she went out. Kate recalled how she came to met the Empress.

*in the train on the way to Beijing*

Kate was on the train on the way to Beijing. She heard people singing about the Dragon Lady. About how she murdered her own son. A journalist, George sat behind her and started talking to her. After they got off the train, George asked if Kate would eat dinner with him the next day. Kate said:"Lunch?" and it was settled.

Kate headed towards the Forbidden City. When she reached, she saw the Empress sitting on the chair. The Empress asked where will she start and she answered:"the eyes,your majesty."
Kate asked The Empress to tell her more of herself as she needed some information before drawing a true portrait. So,the Empress talked about her past.

The Emperor was choosing a concubine. He lined them all up and chose Kit Chan,the younger version of the Empress. Kit Chan (i forgot the name of the character,sorry!) played chess with Emperor and spent the night with him. And it was later known that she was pregnant. She went to the summer palace to give birth. She ate alot alot of food and suddenly, she yelled in pain. She was in labour. All the concubines and the Emperor's brother was scared that she'll give birth to a boy as that'll mean an heir to the throne. Then, it was all over. Kit, gave birth to a boy!

The Emperor's brother was furious and said it was the tradition that the concubine's baby would have to be taken care by the Eunuchs and Palace Maids. Kit let them take her baby away although she had refused to do so. She was yearning for her baby to return to her. Then, the British attacked the Summer Palace. All of them have to flee to the Winter Palace. So, they made their journey there. On the way, the Emperor became ill and was dying.
Kit was anxious as that'll mean the Emperor's brother would take over the throne. She started singing that this was her only chance.

And finally, the 2 weird guys brought her son to her. She opened the door and carried her boy to the Emperor. The Emperor named him,the heir to the throne.

The boy grew up and began doing calligraphy. He was fed up and threw everything away. The Emperor's brother's son came towards him and brought him to the brothel and the Emperor's son gave way to temptation and died of Aids. While he was dying, Kit sang:"To lose my son to a war,is honourable but to lose my son to a disease is a shame." then, while he died, Kit wiped all his sweat away with the hankerchief and he died.

Then, when the Emperor's brother thought that his son was going to be heir to the throne, Kit brought her sister's son and named him heir to the throne. Everyone protested. But, they still let her carry on. Kit named him,Guang Xu. When Guang Xu finally grew up, Guang Xu wanted to change how the people in China studied. And he begged her to let him have his way. When Kit refused, Guang Xu asked if it's because he's not her own son. Kit didn't want him to get the wrong idea so she approved of his plan.

When Guang Xu changed the rules, everyone got exhausted as they were fighting the Civil war. Then, the Emperor's brother passed away in the war. After the "burial", Kit started singing as Guang Xu died in the war too. Then, the British, Japan,Russia and USA attacked China again then there was chaos and blood filled streets. All the people blamed her for letting Guang Xu do what ever he wants to.

It was back to the where The Empress(the old 1) sent for Kate. She said:" Cut every limb from limb and crush all her bones and feed it to the dogs!" Kate was shocked. Then the Empress asked if thats what she wanted. Why did She want the people to believe the false and why she told other people about the handkerchief matter. Kate read the newspaper. It said:"When The Empress' son was dying, she laid by her son, wiping him with a handkerchief full of small pox.And she killed his son."

Kate was furious and she went to find George. She asked why George spun the story around. George said people like to read what they like and Kate scolded him a bastard.

*back to the present*
The keeper came and asked why she was crying. And she said nothing and they opened the gallery. People started singing again how bad the Empress was and she was a Dragon Lady. Then Kate kept siding the Empress but they wouldnt listen. After all that, The young Empress,Kit chan and the old Empress came and sang a song to her and it ended.

Kit got the loudest cheer. Of course! Her vocal power was superb!!
Then, we went home and it was dinner. Had saba teriyaki. Oiyishi!! yummy! then, my aunt gave my elder brother and I a lecture on phone bills and our phones got confiscated. Then, after all the meetings, she gave me back my phone as it was my first time exceeding. =) then, i returned the $30 to my aunt. I still owe her $20 for my phone..hai.. the show's super nice!!
